A lonely corner of the
parking lot
shows an odd angle
you’re not supposed to see
above the angled metal
awnings
resides large
the shaped sign
the value of the place
propped up with
several poles haphazard
red and black
power cabling in loops
around a select
few
all those hopes
buoyed up
as precarious
as the money we bring
I think about going in
and about resisting
that’s where I turnabout
do something else instead
