Joe Wright‘s 2007 movie based on Ian McEwan‘s novel of the same name is one of those that you enjoy so much you want to read the book. I found Saoirse Ronan (Briony Tallis – 13), Keira Knightley as Cecilia Tallis, James McAvoy as Robbie Turner, Romola Garai (Briony Tallis – 18 ) and Vanessa Redgrave as the older Bryony all did an amazing job especially Saoirse. The directing by Joe Wright was inspired. I understand that he had Christopher Hampton redo the screenplay closer to the way the book was and that Ian McEwan was one of the producers.
It also made me look up information on the Evacuation of Dunkirk during World War II, including this map.
Excellent job and very worthy watching (but not for the younger kids).
