Of course
they’d call it the
‘Santa Claus’ parade
as if escaping a Christian origin
is so easy.
In the end
when you run
you only run from
yourself.
Your culture and past has
that stranglehold
that is unlockable.
But I chased the float
anyway.
Trying to capture it
with my camera.
To keep this secular moment
preserved.
I wave.
And I end up
thanking the Dutch for a Saint
and us all
for making him commercial.
