Charles Dance adapted a short story by JD Locke that he chanced upon to make the movie Ladies in Lavender. It is a very different and wonderfully made film that I heartily recommend.
Judi Dench (Ursula Widdington) and Maggie Smith (Janet Widdington) work so well together and provide such poignancy and believability; they provide great impact. An excellent supporting cast including Daniel Brühl (excellent work on providing realistic looking violin playing for the character Andrea Marowski), Natascha McElhone (Olga Daniloff) and Miriam Margolyes (Dorcas) really helped. The story and movie are set in Cornwall and this provides yet another character to this rich story.
